Practice Nurse Sandra Paver runs to diabetes managements clinics. You will be notified when your annual or interim review is due. Please arrange your blood tests so the results are available for your consultation with the Practice Nurse. The reviews are important to ensure your diabetes is managed effectively, reviewing your overall health, blood tests, lifestyle and offer the support as needed.
The surgery now offers bookable appointments for blood tests daily. Please contact the surgery to arrange an appointment.
We are unable to perform surgery of a cosmetic nature and non-suspicious skin lesions would need to be removed privately by a service outside the surgery.
You will need to see a GP initially for assessment of suitablity for minor surgery and after this you will be put on the waiting list and contacted when an appointment is available.
We aim to run at least one clinic a month.
Please note that we no longer treat verrucas or warts with cryotherapy. Studies have shown that there is no clinical evidence that cryotherapy is more effective than other over-the-counter treatments.
Verrucas are a minor transient infection which your body will get over and If they are troubling you can speak to your pharmacist or read the patient leaflet on the Patient UK link on our website for more advice.
Baby Clinics are now held by the Health Visitors at the Children and Family Centre, Hargate Way, Hampton Hargate, Peterborough, PE7 8BZ.
The clinics take place on Tuesdays between 1.30am & 3pm. The Health Visitor contact phone number is 01733 746729. Please also see our immunisations page from details of baby immunisation clinics.
To prevent a delay in protecting your baby, please ensure that you have booked an appointment with a GP for your baby’s 6 week check to confirm that they are fit to start their course of routine immunisations. This check must be done before your baby can receive their first injections which are given by a Practice Nurse. Further information on the immunisations are available online through the NHS Choices website www.nhs.uk
From August 2015, all 17- and 18-year-olds in school year 13 and first-time university students up to the age of 25 will be offered the Men ACWY vaccine as part of the NHS vaccination program.
Men ACWY vaccine is given by a single injection into the upper arm.
We do not offer this service. You can obtain this immunisation through Citydoc, who have 80 clinics countrywide, the nearest one being within West Town Pharmacy on Mayors Walk. You can contact them by phone on 03333 314827
For more information visit the NHS Choices website and search under vaccinations.
This year you are eligible for the shingles immunisation if you are aged 70 or 78 years old. In addition anyone who was eligible but missed out in the last 3 years may still have it until their 80th birthday.
Since 2015 people aged 80 and over are not part of the national programme because the vaccine seems to be less effective in this age group.
If you are between the ages of 40 and 74 you will receive a letter inviting you to Hampton Health to have a Health Check, and if you feel perfectly healthy you may not see any point in making an appointment for this. The NHS provides for a health check once every 5 years.
The purpose of the Health Check is to help you stay healthy and prevent you developing illnesses like heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease.
These conditions can often be prevented even if you have a history of them in your family and through coming in for a Health Check we can work with you to lower your chances of developing these health problems in the future.
The Health Check takes about 20-30 minutes and consists of some simple questions about your family history and any medication you are currently taking. We will also record your height, weight, age, sex and ethnicity and take your blood pressure and do a simple blood test to check your cholesterol level.
The results of your NHS Health Check will give us a clearer picture of your health and your health risks and we will be able to discuss how we can support you to reduce your risk and stay healthy either through personalised advice on maintaining a healthy lifestyle or by treatment or medication to help you maintain your health.
If you are invited for a Health Check please make a New Years Resolution to make that appointment!
By taking action you will improve your chance for a longer healthier life. For more information about NHS Health Checks please visit www.nhs.uk/nhshealthcheck

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you will need to complete a Travel Clinic form giving details of your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below:
When you return the form you need to book an appointment as early as possible and at least 6 weeks before you travel.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
Travelling in Europe
If you are travelling to Europe the EU has published useful information for travellers on the European website.
The Doctors and Nurses are entitled to charge for some items of work. NHS work is free at the point of contact, and involves seeing the doctor for a normal consultation, home visits or minor surgery. You will not be charged for NHS work.
Non NHS services such as medical reports, insurance claim forms, or letters requested for work, school or leisure pursuits are dealt with on a private fee basis.
GPs are not employed by the NHS, they are self employed, and they have to cover their costs such as staff, buildings, heating and lighting etc in the same way as any small business. The NHS covers these costs for NHS work, but for non-NHS work the fee has to cover the doctor’s costs.
We cannot guarantee how long it will take the doctors to complete private work. As a guideline please allow 7-21 working days but please be aware that this may be longer during busy periods as NHS work has to take priority over private work.
Our dedicated results line is available from 14:00 to 16:00 daily – Pick Phone Option3
Due to the unpredictable nature of demand for results, (for example if the demand is low on a particular day), it may be beneficial for the clinical staff manning the results line to be employed on other duties in the surgery.
If this is the case, the line will switch to voicemail, where you are able to leave a message.
Our staff will then call you back.
