Electronic Prescription Service (EPS).
Hampton Health is now also offering the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS).
If you currently collect your repeat prescriptions from the practice, or if a pharmacy does this on your behalf, you can arrange for your prescription to be sent electronically to the collection point of your choice.
The service will work for you if you have a stable condition, with regular prescriptions, and if you collect your medicines from the same place most of the time, or use a prescription collection service now.
EPS is reliable, secure and confidential and you may not have to wait as long at the pharmacy as there will be time for your repeat prescriptions to be ready before you arrive to collect them.
To use EPS you will need to nominate a place for your prescription to be sent automatically. You don’t need a computer to do this just speak to any pharmacist participating in the service or ask our reception team at the surgery.
Other Methods of Ordering Your Prescription
Repeat prescriptions can also be ordered by writing in to the surgery or by using the tear-off section from your previous prescription. Whichever method you choose to order your prescription please give at 2 working days notice. If you have arranged for a pharmacy to dispense your prescription please allow at least 3 working days when you order your prescription.
In common with almost all surgeries, we do not accept telephone orders for prescriptions. This is in the interests of avoiding mistakes, as the names of many medicines sound similar, and administration staff are not trained in this area. Please note that not all medications can be issued without you seeing a clinician again.
For patients receiving regular, repeat, stable medication items that are unlikely to change we are able to issue up to 12 months worth of prescriptions which can be issued and dispensed in regular intervals by the Community Pharmacy (Batch Prescribing). Please check with the GP to see if this is possible with the medication you are taking.
Repeat prescriptions will normally be for 28 days
If you do not collect your prescriptions yourself, make sure your representative has your signed authorisation to collect on your behalf.
Please only order the medication you need for each month. The estimated cost of medicines that are wasted each year is £4.3 million in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire alone and £34 milion in the East of England. We think that around half of this could be avoided if patients only ordered what they needed.
The NHS accepts responsibility for supplying ongoing medication for temporary periods abroad of up to 3 months. If you are going to be abroad for more than 3 months then you are only entitled on the NHS to a sufficient supply of your regular medication to get to your destination and find an alternative supply of that medication.
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
